About Us

Dr. Julie Kassis Long is a native Charlestonian who graduated from Porter-Gaud School in 1993. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1997 with a BS in Biology. Dr. Long attended MUSC's College of Dental Medicine and attained a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (D.M.D) in 2001. That year, she became a partner in her father's dental practice. Kassis Long Family Dentistry is a continuation of the dental practice that Dr. Long's father, Dr. Raymond Kassis, began in 1969. Throughout the years they have created long-lasting relationships with their patients and their families.

We're proud of our investment in the latest dental technology, especially as it contributes to our patients' well being. We've installed digital x-ray units and computers with patient monitors in each treatment room. This latest technology allows us to reduce x-ray exposure and still give us the maximum diagnostic capabilities. Our intra-oral camera allows you to see, better than ever, the state of your own dental health – so you can better understand your needs.

Dental examinations help to diagnose disease before it becomes hazardous to your health. In addition, regular examinations can save you money by alleviating problems while they are small and before they become expensive to repair, or in some cases, impossible to repair. Your dental examinations generally include the following:

  • Oral cancer screening
  • Gum disease evaluation
  • Visual examination of tooth decay
  • Examination of diagnostic x-rays to see cysts, tumors, invisible decay and other problems that can't be seen by the naked eye
  • Evaluation of status of current restorations (fillings and others)

We cannot express enough how important it is to see your dentist regularly. Remember, preventing disease is always better than treating disease.

 We successfully treat patients who:

  • Don’t respond well to local anesthetics
  • Have a strong gag reflex
  • Have very sensitive teeth
  • Need complex dental work
  • Can’t stand the idea of needles and shots
  • Feel uncomfortable around dental instruments, bright lights, or sounds
  • Have not seen a dentist in many years
